SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene "Gene" Charles Griffin who passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin was born in Elgin to Charles and Helen Griffin on September 29, 1933; he attended school in Elgin; he married Gail Perry on October 5, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin began his career at Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works; he then moved on to work for the Al Griffin Sewing Machine Store and to manage Singer Sewing Machine stores; he owned Griffin Sewing Machine Service; he worked for Sears Roebuck until his retirement; upon his retirement, he sold real estate for Ed Blachaniec Realtors and managed Langworthy's in Libertyville; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin was a founding member of St. Dismas Catholic Church, where he also served as an usher; he was a member of the Men's Club; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Maureen Caughlin; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin is survived by his wife, Gail; his children, Patrick E. Griffin and Erin (Patrick) Putwen; his granddaughter, Krystal Sanchez; his nieces and nephews; and the family pet, Shannon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugene "Gene" Charles Griffin, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene Griffin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
