SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eugene "Gene" Charles Griffin who passed
4away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin was born in Elgin to Charles and
6Helen Griffin on September 29, 1933; he attended school in
7Elgin; he married Gail Perry on October 5, 1957; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin began his career at Shakeproof
9Division of Illinois Tool Works; he then moved on to work for
10the Al Griffin Sewing Machine Store and to manage Singer Sewing
11Machine stores; he owned Griffin Sewing Machine Service; he
12worked for Sears Roebuck until his retirement; upon his
13retirement, he sold real estate for Ed Blachaniec Realtors and
14managed Langworthy's in Libertyville; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin was a founding member of St. Dismas
16Catholic Church, where he also served as an usher; he was a
17member of the Men's Club; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin was preceded in death by his
19parents; and his sister, Maureen Caughlin; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Eugene Griffin is survived by his wife, Gail; his

1children, Patrick E. Griffin and Erin (Patrick) Putwen; his
2granddaughter, Krystal Sanchez; his nieces and nephews; and the
3family pet, Shannon; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Eugene "Gene" Charles Griffin, and extend our sincere
7condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
8him; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Eugene Griffin as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
