SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph Patrick Rubino Sr. of McHenry, who passed away on September 3, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Rubino was born in Chicago to Dominick and Theresa (Fradona) Rubino on March 17, 1931; he married Joan Cicero at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Chicago on April 8, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Rubino began his business career at the age of 20 when he purchased his first service station; for many years, he owned service locations in Chicago, Elmwood Park, and Ingleside; after moving to the McHenry area in 1970, he opened D & J Auto Parts stores in 1975 and operated locations in Crystal Lake, Round Lake, and McHenry; in his later years, he was active in the real estate market; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Rubino was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9167 at St. John the Baptist Church; he was a fourth degree knight of the Bishop Boylan Assembly; he enjoyed traveling in his motor home, boating, and spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Rubino was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Rubino; his brother, Nick Rubino; and his sisters, Rose Taylor and Eva Witzak; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Rubino is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan; his children, Therese "Terri" Rubino-Goerdt, Dominick (Karen) Rubino, and Joseph Jr. (Sarah) Rubino; his grandchildren, Chris Goerdt, Tom (Lauren) Goerdt, Jason (Jodi) Rubino, Andrew Rubino, Andy Rubino, and Gina Rubino; his great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Ben, and Grant; and his sister-in-law, Helen Rubino; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph Patrick Rubino Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph Rubino as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
