SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Logan Stephen Palmer, Petty Officer
4Second Class, of Harristown, who passed away Monday, August 21,
52017, while serving his country aboard the USS John S. McCain
6in the South China Sea; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Logan Palmer was born in Decatur to Sidney and
8Theresa (Karcher) Palmer; he attended Northwest Christian
9School where he was baptized; he graduated from Sangamon Valley
10High School in 2012 and was an honor roll student; he graduated
11with high honors from Richland Community College in 2014; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Logan Palmer enlisted in the Navy in April 2016;
13he completed Basic Training and received further training in US
14Navy Class C School in San Diego; he finished third in his
15class; his first assignment was to the USS John S. McCain
16(DDG-56); and
 
17    WHEREAS, Logan Palmer was a member of Boy Scouts of
18America, Troop 43, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in
192011; he made an impression on everyone he met, and he will be
20greatly missed; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Logan Palmer was preceded in death by his

1grandfather, Ernest Karcher; and his uncles, Tim Gillispie and
2Ron Miller; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Logan Palmer is survived by his parents; his
4brothers, Austin and Kaleb; his sister, Madison; his
5grandparents, Robert and Martha Palmer and Ruth Karcher; his
6niece, Auroa Case; and his fiance, Lindsey Leishner; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Logan Stephen Palmer, Petty Officer Second Class, and extend
11our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
12knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Logan Palmer as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
