SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Henry Robert Kloppenburg, of Springfield,
4who passed away on August 10, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg was born in Springfield to Harry
6M. and Eunice (Chapman) Kloppenburg; he graduated from Lanphier
7High School in 1944; he earned a degree from Springfield Junior
8College, and also studied at the University of Illinois; he
9married Charliene Tucker on September 28, 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg was employed as a manager at
11Firestone; he also worked as vice president and general manager
12of Cox Transit Company, where he held a multi-engine pilot's
13license; he was part owner and operator of H.M. Kloppenburg &
14Sons; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg served on the Springfield
16School Board, Prairie Capitol Convention Center Board, and was
17a past member of both the Toastmasters and Sangamo clubs; he
18was an avid hunter, fisher, and golfer, and enjoyed bridge club
19with friends; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg was preceded in death by his
21parents; his brother, Bill; his sisters, Lorraine Hanrahan and

1Eileen Bullard; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg is survived by his wife; his
3daughters, Christa (Jim) Fleming and Martha Kohlrus; his
4grandchildren, Amanda, Stephanie, and Megan Fleming, Tara
5(Frank) Kulavic, and Trevor Kohlrus; and his
6great-grandchildren, Cal and Posie Kulavic; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Henry Robert Kloppenburg, and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Henry Kloppenburg as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
