SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Henry Robert Kloppenburg, of Springfield, who passed away on August 10, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg was born in Springfield to Harry M. and Eunice (Chapman) Kloppenburg; he graduated from Lanphier High School in 1944; he earned a degree from Springfield Junior College, and also studied at the University of Illinois; he married Charliene Tucker on September 28, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg was employed as a manager at Firestone; he also worked as vice president and general manager of Cox Transit Company, where he held a multi-engine pilot's license; he was part owner and operator of H.M. Kloppenburg & Sons; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg served on the Springfield School Board, Prairie Capitol Convention Center Board, and was a past member of both the Toastmasters and Sangamo clubs; he was an avid hunter, fisher, and golfer, and enjoyed bridge club with friends; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bill; his sisters, Lorraine Hanrahan and Eileen Bullard; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kloppenburg is survived by his wife; his daughters, Christa (Jim) Fleming and Martha Kohlrus; his grandchildren, Amanda, Stephanie, and Megan Fleming, Tara (Frank) Kulavic, and Trevor Kohlrus; and his great-grandchildren, Cal and Posie Kulavic; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Henry Robert Kloppenburg, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Henry Kloppenburg as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
