| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Robbie C. Shoemaker Heitzman of Moline, | 4 | | who passed away on August 29, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman was born in Nashville, Tennessee | 6 | | to Pallie Pack and Charlie Morris on July 9, 1924; she moved to | 7 | | Chicago at the age of three with her mother and graduated from | 8 | | South Shore High School; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman worked for the New York Central | 10 | | Railroad before joining the United States Navy WAVES (Women | 11 | | Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II | 12 | | serving in communication intelligence as a telegrapher 3rd | 13 | | class; after her discharge in 1946, she attended the University | 14 | | of Illinois; she married George Shoemaker Jr. in Chicago on | 15 | | June 14, 1947; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman worked with her husband in the | 17 | | home building industry, where she decorated many show houses; | 18 | | she later worked for the United States Army Corps of Engineers | 19 | | in the Contracting Division, retiring in 1990; she founded a | 20 | | catering service from which she retired in 1999; after the | 21 | | passing of her first husband, she married Dale Heitzman in Rock | 22 | | Island on July 17, 1999; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman was active in the National | 2 | | Association of Home Builders Auxiliary, serving as a local, | 3 | | state, and national president and remained a Life Director; she | 4 | | was a member and elder of South Park Presbyterian Church; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman was preceded in death by her first | 6 | | husband, George; her second husband, Dale; and her grandsons, | 7 | | Brett Andrew Shoemaker and Christen Thiel Shoemaker; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman is survived by her children, Dr. | 9 | | Craig (Janet) Shoemaker, Dawn (Blair) Gorsuch, and Kenn (Kathy) | 10 | | Shoemaker; her stepchildren, Patti Heitzman and Terry | 11 | | Heitzman; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; | 12 | | therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Robbie C. Shoemaker Heitzman, and extend our sincere | 16 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 17 | | her; and be it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Robbie Heitzman as an expression of | 20 | | our deepest sympathy.
