SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harley D. Rutledge of Tolono, who passed away on July 2, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Harley Rutledge was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Carolyn and Daniel DePalma on November 24, 1971; he graduated from Western Illinois University and married Amanda Hiller in Champaign in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Harley Rutledge was a lieutenant for the Urbana Police Department, where he worked for over 19 years; and

WHEREAS, Harley Rutledge was a devoted father and enjoyed attending his children's baseball, basketball, and softball games; he was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins; and

WHEREAS, Harley Rutledge is survived by his wife, Amanda; his daughter, Hannah, and her son, Dillon; his parents; his sisters, Candace Kelly, Katy DePalma, Elizabeth Spires, and Angel Edwards; his brother, Jay Gordy; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kevin Hiller, Laura Hiller, Tim Kelly, Diana Gordy, Kevin Spires, and Chris Edwards; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harley D. Rutledge, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harley Rutledge as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
