SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Philip Aderton of La Salle, who
4passed away on August 10, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Aderton was born in Hardin to Philip C. and
6Millie (Bailey) Aderton on June 16, 1928; he graduated from
7Hardin High School in 1946 and served as an X-ray technician in
8the United States Navy; he graduated from Illinois College in
91953 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics; he earned his
10post-graduate degrees from Southern Illinois University
11through the Illinois Bankers Association and the Graduate
12School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; he
13married Janice Ann Clendenny at First Presbyterian Church in
14Hardin on November 8, 1958; and
 
15    WHEREAS, George Aderton started his banking career as a
16cashier and vice president at the Bank of Kampsville; he became
17cashier and vice president of Citizens State Bank of Mt. Morris
18and then president and chairman of the board; he and a group of
19community leaders purchased the State Bank of Paw Paw, where he
20retired as president and chairman of the board in 1995; and
 
21    WHEREAS, George Aderton served as a Mt. Morris councilman
22and then Mayor from 1966 to 1969; he was a board member of

1Disciples United Methodist Church and the Jaycees; in Paw Paw,
2he was active in the Paw Paw Lions Club and a member of the Paw
3Paw United Methodist Church; he was also a 65-year member of
4Calhoun Masonic Lodge #792 and a 64-year member of American
5Legion Post 636 in Hardin; and
 
6    WHEREAS, George Aderton volunteered for 20 years at the
7Order of St. Francis hospital in Ottawa as a "Pink Lady", as he
8loved to say; he was also a member of Grace United Methodist
9Church in La Salle, where he and his wife had resided since
101998; his true passions were spending time with family and
11friends, following his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, playing
12golf, and traveling; and
 
13    WHEREAS, George Aderton was preceded in death by his
14parents and his sister, Jean (Aderton) Stewart; and
 
15    WHEREAS, George Aderton is survived by his wife, Janice;
16his children, Nanette (Randy) Trudell, Sally Aderton, Karen
17(Chris) Williams, and Philip L. (Elizabeth) Aderton; his
18grandchildren, Ira Trudell, Hannah Trudell, Katherine and John
19Aderton, and Samuel and Addison; and his great-grandchildren,
20Autumn, and twins Marty and Everett Trudell; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1George Philip Aderton, and extend our sincere condolences to
2his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of George Aderton as an expression of
6our deepest sympathy.
