| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Alberta Thompson-Herod, who passed away | 4 | | on August 11, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod was born in Lafayette | 6 | | County, Abbeville, Mississippi to Epsie Turner and McEwen | 7 | | Farmer on August 29, 1928; she was raised by her mother and | 8 | | stepfather, Wallace Thompson; she married James "Claude" Herod | 9 | | in 1947; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod worked at Lewis College | 11 | | for 38 years; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod confessed her hope in | 13 | | Christ at an early age; she was a member of Providence | 14 | | Methodist Church in Abbeville, Mississippi; she moved to Joliet | 15 | | and united with Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal | 16 | | Church, which she faithfully supported; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod was preceded in death by | 18 | | her parents; her husband; and her son, Willie Earl; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod is survived by her | 20 | | daughters, Stella A. Nucklos and Frankie F. Logan; her brother, |
