SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Janice Helen Johnston, of Crystal Lake, who passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Janice Johnston was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Paul and Gladys (Barrow) Brown; she began work as a long-distance telephone operator in St. Joseph, Missouri and Wichita, Kansas; she later became an accomplished lead sales woman for Sears in Crystal Lake; she retired as Head of Circulation for the Crystal Lake Public Library; she was fondly known around town as the "Library Lady"; and

WHEREAS, Janice Johnston loved mystery novels; she also had the privilege of learning about style from her father, who was a local tailor in St. Joseph; she loved clothing and fashion; she enjoyed chocolate, and had tried every brand; and

WHEREAS, Janice Johnston traveled extensively with her husband; she was grateful to have the opportunity to see the world; and

WHEREAS, Janice Johnston was preceded in death by her parents; and her many feline companions; and

WHEREAS, Janice Johnston is survived by her husband; her sons, Kenneth M. (Jasmine) Johnston and Steven P. (fiancee Boots Palad) Johnston; her daughters-in-law, Sandra Johnston and Gail (Bobby) Johnston-Riggs; her grandchildren, Scott Johnston, Jennifer (Matt) Orlick, Nicole Johnston, Michael Johnston, and Christopher Johnston; her great-grandchildren, Vince, Autumn, and Wyatt Orlick; and her feline companion, Maynard; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Janice Helen Johnston, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Janice Johnston as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
