SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John M. Delaney Jr. of Brighton, who
4passed away on August 2, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Delaney was born in Alton to John M. "Jack"
6Sr. and Joan (Galloway) Delaney on August 14, 1956; he
7graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1974 and
8attended St. Louis University and the St. Louis University
9School of Law; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Delaney practiced law for over 35 years and,
11since 1997, was the sole practitioner at the Law Offices of
12John M. Delaney, Jr.; he was also an instructor in the Criminal
13Justice Department at Lewis and Clark Community College for
14many years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Delaney was a loving and devoted father,
16companion, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he was
17known for his witty humor, his explosive ability to burst out
18in song at any time, and most of all for his big heart; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Delaney was preceded in death by his parents
20and his brother-in-law, Pete Herbig; and

1    WHEREAS, John Delaney is survived by his special love,
2Elle; his children, Maggie (Lance) Dillinger, Vicki (Mike)
3Sutton, and Marty (Alice) Delaney; his grandchildren, Chloe
4Dillinger, Kole and Callie Sutton, and his soon to be fourth
5grandchild; his sister, Kathy Herbig; his nephews, Andrew
6(Emily), Sam, and Will Herbig; his "bonus" children, Nathan,
7Brandon, Arynne, and Andrew; his "bonus" granddaughter, Averi;
8his first wife, Julie (Spurgeon) Beckham; and numerous other
9family and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12John M. Delaney Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Delaney as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
