SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Duffield J. "Duffy" Seyller III of
4Harvard, who passed away on July 10, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was born in Peoria to Duffield J.
6Seyller II and Dorothy McFarlin on January 2, 1949; he
7graduated from Spalding High School in Peoria and served in
8Vietnam with the United States Army; he graduated from Western
9Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in business and a
10Master of Business Administration; he married JoAnn Strohmeyer
11in Peoria on August 17, 1974; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was employed at Home Federal
13Savings in Peoria, where he worked for nine years; in 1985, he
14moved to Harvard, where he was employed at the Harvard Savings
15Bank, later becoming chief executive officer and president; he
16was a member of the Illinois League of Financial Institutions,
17where he served as chairman in 2009; he retired in February of
182014, continuing to serve on the board of directors; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was a lifelong parishioner at St.
20Joseph Church, serving with the Parent's Club, the Finance
21Committee, and the Pastoral Council for many years; he was also
22a member of, and served as, president of the Harvard Lions

1Club; he loved telling stories and making new friends; he was
2an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bears, and
3the Notre Dame Fighting Irish; you could always find him in the
4stands cheering on his children at Hornet sporting events; he
5was an active golfer, participating in many golf leagues
6throughout his life; he enjoyed his getaways in Galena and
7exploring new places, with his wife; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller was preceded in death by his
9parents and his grandson, Beckett Adams; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Duffield Seyller is survived by his wife, JoAnn;
11his children, Duffield (Amy) Seyller IV, Casey (Kristi)
12Seyller, Molly (Coady) Adams, Shannon (Daniel) Skoglund, and
13Courtney Seyller; his grandchildren, Jenna, Maddie, and Ella
14Seyller; his sisters, Christine (Jack) Duke and Sandy (Mike)
15Neese; and 10 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Duffield J. "Duffy" Seyller III, and extend our sincere
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20him; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Duffield Seyller as an expression of
