SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mozell "Buggie" Brown Jr., who passed
4away at the age of 53; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mozell Brown was born in Chicago to Mozell Sr. and
6Iona Brown on December 7, 1963; he was the eighth child in his
7family and was often referred to as "knee baby"; he attended
8Corliss High School, where he was an enthusiastic athlete and
9received many achievements and awards for his talents in
10baseball and football; he graduated top of his class with a
11bachelor's degree in business administration from Prairie View
12A&M University in Texas; he enrolled in Cain's Barber College
13in Chicago to pursue his passion for cutting hair and was given
14the opportunity to master his skills at Tiger Master Design; he
15married April Ester on August 9, 1992; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mozell Brown opened Jr's Barber Shop in Dolton; he
17then embarked on another journey, opening the first of his four
18Harold's Chicken Shacks in 2001; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mozell Brown touched the lives of many through his
20mentorship, loving spirit, infectious smile, and unselfish
21heart; he possessed all the qualities of a devoted husband,
22providing father, and supporting friend; he loved spending time

1with family and friends, playing golf, eating sweets, and
2April's good ol' Sunday dinners; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mozell Brown is survived by his loving wife of
4nearly 25 years, April; his daughters, Ashley and Morgan Brown;
5his mother, Iona Brown; his siblings, Rodger, Tarran (Florine),
6Wayne, Mike (Gwen), Timothy, LaWanda (Shelby), Tonnon
7(Prince), and Terrence (Trina); his grandchild, Mackenzie
8Brown; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and
9friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Mozell "Buggie" Brown Jr., and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Mozell Brown as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
