SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wayne M. Kassel M.D. of Joliet, who
4passed away on May 28, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Kassel was born in Berwyn to John and Rose
6(Pocius) Kassel on September 8, 1937; he graduated from Fenwick
7High School in 1955 and then earned his Bachelor of Science at
8Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana in 1959 and his
9Doctorate of Medicine at Saint Louis University in 1963; he
10served four years in the United States Naval Reserve; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Kassel did his residency in internal medicine
12residency at Northwestern Evanston Hospital for three years; he
13then joined the Joliet Medical Group, now known as the DuPage
14Medical Group, in 1970, where he practiced medicine until his
15retirement in 1997; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Kassel served his community as an active
17member in the Will Grundy Medical Society, the Illinois State
18Medical Society, and the American Medical Association; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Kassel enjoyed playing golf, photography, and
20most of all, his life and his family; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Kassel is survived by his wife of 55 years,
2Lynn Anderson; his children, Diana, Lisa (Matt), Mark
3(Michelle), and Eric (Carole); his grandchildren, Christopher,
4Anna (Francisco Juarez), Margaret, Jennifer (Miguel
5Rodriguez), Thomas, Lindsay, Allison, Michael, Zachary,
6Rebecca, Jake, Matthew, and Rylie; his niece, Mary (George
7Gonzalez); and his 10 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Wayne M. Kassel M.D., and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Dr. Kassel as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
