SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Wesley MacGruder of Grand Junction, Colorado, who passed away on March 11, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert D. and Hester (Wooden) MacGruder on June 5, 1932; his family moved to Colorado in 1939; he attended the University of Wyoming and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving aboard the U.S.S. Stembel during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Before retiring, Robert MacGruder resided in Waukegan; from 1959 to 1973, he was president of the Chamber of Commerce in Waukegan, Belvidere, and Laverne, Minnesota; he was Executive Vice President of the Lake County Contractors Association from 1973 to 1996; and

WHEREAS, During his career, Robert MacGruder received numerous awards such as the Exchange Club's Golden Deeds in 1976; he was active in local and state affairs with the United Way, the Port Authority, the Planning Commission, the Lake County Economic Development Commission, and the Waukegan Civil Service Commission; and

WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder was preceded in death by his wives, JoAnn (Wheatley), Lea (Passwaters), and Marilyn (Leonard); his parents; his stepfather, Roy Brown; his son, Robert W. MacGruder Jr.; his son-in-law, David Nystrom; and numerous close friends; and

WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder is survived by his daughter, Valorie Nystrom; his sons, Greg Ramsey and Jeff (Trina) Ramsey; his sisters, Marilyn Barnewall and Dede Hunter; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his special friends, Duane Wheatley, Wayne Brimer, Tony Vigil, and Harold (Rita) Schafer; and numerous other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Wesley MacGruder, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert MacGruder as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
