SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gertrude M. "Nana" (Bronkema) Flaynik, who passed away on May 12, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Gertrude Flaynik loved her YMCA rusty hinges classes on Briggs Street and traveling through 49 states with Papa; she was the master of jokes and loved to make people laugh; and

WHEREAS, Gertrude Flaynik was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, William "Embo"; her parents, Joseph and Theresa Bronkema; her grandson, John Dennis Zaletel; her great-grandson, Beylen Mark Testa; four brothers; and two sisters; and

WHEREAS, Gertrude Flaynik is survived by her children, Dennis (Betty) Zaletel and Theresa McGuire; her grandchildren, Mike (Erin) Testa, Mark (Kirsten) Testa, Sara (Ryan) Dixon, Chris (Joe) Bajner, and Carrie (Alex) Boryszewski; 12 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ann (Emil Burkovic) Pandola; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gertrude M. Flaynik, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gertrude Flaynik as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
