SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold William Wilkinson of Kerrville,
4Texas, who passed away on January 15, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Wilkinson was born in Alton to Harold and
6Esther (Beatty) Wilkinson on May 23, 1930; he graduated from
7Marquette High School in Alton and attended the United States
8Naval Academy, where he played football and became a decorated
9combat veteran of the Korean War; following the war, he
10received a bachelor's degree in education from Shurtleff
11College in Alton; he later completed his master's degree in
12education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville;
13he married Frances Angelina Aloisi on June 16, 1956; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Harold Wilkinson began his four-decade long
15career in education as a history instructor in the Bunker Hill
16school system in 1955, eventually becoming the principal of the
17elementary/junior high school; he coached basketball and track
18at Bunker Hill and coached football at the Western Military
19Academy in Alton; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the school system,
21Harold Wilkinson worked at the Bunker Hill Gazette-News; he
22also served the Bunker Hill community as a city alderman,

1library board member, school board member, and on the board of
2directors of Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton; he was a
3member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and
4Mensa; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Wilkinson is survived by his wife, Frances;
6his sons, Mark (Tina) and Scott (Kerry); and his grandchildren,
7Anthony (TJ), Andrew (Danielle), Alexis, and Blake; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Harold William Wilkinson, and extend our sincere condolences to
12his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Harold Wilkinson as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
