SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Norman C. Geary, who passed away on April 28, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Norman Geary was born in Grayslake to James Henry and Ruby Smith Geary on June 23, 1923; he served in the United States Navy Merchant Marines during World War II; he attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1946 and earned his Bachelor of Philosophy in Business Administration; he returned to Grayslake and married Marilyn Hook in 1952; he later married Virginia Harrington Geary; and

WHEREAS, Norman Geary worked in public service representing Avon Township as their supervisor and was a long standing member of the Lake County Board, serving two terms as the chairman; and

WHEREAS, Norman Geary was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Barbara Lynn Geary; and his brothers, Francis and Adelbert "Del"; and

WHEREAS, Norman Geary is survived by his children, Robert John (Jeanneatte) Geary, Diane Fox (Eric) Thurman, James Norman (Cynthia) Geary, and Kathryn Ann (Curtis) Olson; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Norman C. Geary, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Norman Geary as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
