| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Donald Dean Walden Sr. of Joliet, who | 4 | | passed away on May 20, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Walden was born to Grace (Deutschman) and | 6 | | Elmer Walden on January 15, 1931; he attended Joliet grade | 7 | | schools, Joliet Township High School, and Joliet Junior | 8 | | College; he served in the United States Navy during the Korean | 9 | | War; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Donald Walden retired from Illinois Bell | 11 | | (Ameritech) after 37 years of service; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Donald Walden was a lifetime member of American | 13 | | Legion Post #1080 and served as the commander on seven | 14 | | different occasions; he was a member of the Legion Band Color | 15 | | Guard and volunteered for many local causes; he held | 16 | | memberships in various clubs and organizations including the | 17 | | Port Authority of Lewis University Airport, the City of Joliet | 18 | | Planning Commission, the board of Abraham Lincoln National | 19 | | Cemetery, VFW Cantigny Post #367, the Will County Project Pride | 20 | | (Chairman), the Associated Clubs of Will County, the Disabled | 21 | | American Veterans, the American Legion Riders, the Veterans | 22 | | Assistance Commission, and Sons of the American Legion; he was |

| 1 | | also a Troy Township Trustee for over 30 years and a member of | 2 | | Grace United Methodist Church; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Donald Walden is survived by his wife of 57 years, | 4 | | Carol (Clemens); his children, Brian (Lisa) Walden and Don | 5 | | (Dena) Walden Jr.; and his grandchildren, Colin and Tyler | 6 | | Walden; therefore, be it
