SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harley W. Hancock of Moline, who passed
4away on April 29, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was born in Huron, South Dakota to
6Austin and Edna Holdsworth Hancock on October 26, 1917; he
7married Adele Youngberg in Cambridge on May 22, 1937 and served
8in the United States Army during World War II; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was the owner and operator of the
10All Service Barber Shop in Moline for 55 years and retired on
11January 1, 1995; he was instrumental in starting the barber
12union in Moline; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was a member of First Evangelical
14Free Church in Moline where he served for many years as a
15deacon and usher; he enjoyed cars and loved visiting with
16people and had a talent for always remembering their names; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Harley Hancock was preceded in death by his wife,
18Adele; his brother, Harvey Hancock; and his sisters, Lota Beam
19and Dora Wertz; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Harley Hancock is survived by his children, Dora

1(Kenneth) Rose and James (Diane) Hancock; his grandchildren,
2Jill (Nathan) Mather, Erica Erickson, and Austin Hancock; and
3his four great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Harley W. Hancock, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Harley Hancock as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
