SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark A. Scott of Eureka, who passed away on May 2, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Mark Scott was born in Louisiana, Missouri to Rev. Dale and Marjorie Smiley Scott on September 23, 1960; he married Andrea Wilson in Eureka on September 29, 1984; and

WHEREAS, Mark Scott attended the Worsham College of Mortuary Science and began a career as a funeral director, serving for 20 years; he first worked for the Otto-Argo Funeral Home in Eureka before going to Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel; he then worked for 15 years for the Irwin Chapel in Granite City; later, he began his career as a financial agent for Country Companies; he worked from his office in Eureka for the past 15 years, doing business as a Country Financial agent; and

WHEREAS, Mark Scott was very active in the Eureka community; he was an Eagle Scout, a member of Masonic Lodge Triple 835 in Granite City, and a Shriner; he served as a past member of the Kiwanis and was a former president of the PTA and the Eureka Area Swim Team; he was the president of the Eureka Rotary Club, a Eureka Business Association member, and served on the board at the Heart House in Eureka; and

WHEREAS, Mark Scott was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs; he enjoyed vacations and game nights with his family and children; he loved to work in the yard and care for birds; he was a member of the Eureka Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Mark Scott is survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Alyssa (Galen) Rocke and Derek (Colleen Hogan) Scott; his sister, Melanie Shipp; his mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Gilbert Wilson; his sister-in-law, Chris (Ron) Schmidgall; his brother-in-law, Dean (Diana) Wilson; his pet dog, Tippy; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark A. Scott, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Scott as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
