SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of death of Frank H. "Bud" Paschen of Jupiter, Florida, who passed away on December 12, 2016, at the age of 80; and

WHEREAS, Bud Paschen grew up in Evanston; he attended Evanston Township High School and Northwestern University, where he earned a civil engineering degree in 1959; and

WHEREAS, Bud Paschen started in construction as a teen, working for Paschen Contractors, a company owned by his father and uncles; his family's name has been linked to Chicago construction ever since the Great Fire of 1871; and

WHEREAS, Bud Paschen founded his company, F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen, in 1975; company projects include the Deep Tunnel, Midway Airport, the 2012 reconstruction of Wacker Drive, courtroom improvements at the Dirksen Federal Building, and renovations all along the "L"; and

WHEREAS, Bud Paschen donated and built a non-denominational mission in Ghana, the Power of Faith Christian Ministries International and Bible Training College, which included a church, orphanage, women's center, and school for students with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Bud Paschen enjoyed muscle cars and owned a purple 1959 Corvette, the Instigator; he also enjoyed deep-sea fishing and taxidermy; and

WHEREAS, Bud Paschen is survived by his wife, Dianne; his daughters, Debora, Jeanne, Mary, and Elisabeth; his sons, Frank and Daniel; his stepsons, Tony and Paul; his sister, LaVerne Finney; 22 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frank H. "Bud" Paschen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bud Paschen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
