SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jeannette M. McCullough of Harvard, who
4passed away on April 7, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was born to Claude and Myrtle
6(Pihl) Pagles on May 21, 1928 and attended Dunham Township
7schools; in 1945, she became the first runner-up for the Milk
8Day Queen; she graduated from Harvard High School in 1946 and
9attended the National 4H Club Congress, where she won a
10four-year scholarship to the University of Illinois; she
11married Maynard A. McCullough at Trinity Lutheran Church on
12June 8, 1947; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was a homemaker; she was a
14leader of the Dunham Girls, the Green and White Pom-Poms, and
15the Dunham B-Sharps 4H Clubs; she won the National Grange
16Baking Contest in 1961 with her onion dinner rolls and was
17featured in the Chicago Tribune for her mincemeat pie; she was
18the McHenry County Farm Woman of the Year in 1981 and received
19many cooking and sewing awards; she and her husband welcomed
20many exchange students into their home; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was a member of the Harvard
22Retired Ladies, the Capron American Legion Auxiliary, and

1Capron, Harvard, and Illinois State Granges; she was a member
2of the Heartland Sewing Club, the Women of the Moose and Golden
3Agers, the Coffee Kluch, the Farmer's Fellowship, the West
4Dunham Homemakers Extension, and the Harvard Historical
5Society; she was an Officer and Pink Lady for the Harvard
6Hospital Auxiliary, and served on the McHenry County Fair
7Board; she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 86
8years, where she sang in the choir and served in the Lydia
9Circle of WELCA; she was involved in all of the activities of
10her children and grandchildren; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough was preceded in death by her
12parents; her husband, Maynard; her brother, Orville Pagles; her
13sisters, Ruth (Howard) Walker, and Gertrude (Henry) Sward; her
14brother-in-law, Richard Brady; her grandson, Kevin James
15McCullough; her father and mother-in-law, Samuel and Jamima
16(McClure) McCullough; her sisters-in-law, Jean (Bob)
17Kieselberg, and Marjorie (Ivan) Snuggs; her brothers-in-law,
18Donald McCullough, and Anton Stohl; and her nephews, Steven
19Sward, and Gary Kieselberg; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jeannette McCullough is survived by her children,
21John "Jack" (Pat) McCullough, Patricia (Ray) Jones, James
22(Laurie) McCullough, Mary Jo (Richard) Olson, and Michael
23(Marcy) McCullough; her grandchildren, Shaun (Cole)

12Uriah, Rorie, Rachel, Brian, Luke, Matthew, Josh, Siera, Molly,
13and Grant; her great-great-grandchildren, Sebastian and
14Harlow; her sister, Hanna Brady (Bob Wittmus); her
15sisters-in-law, Delores Hobbs, Priscilla (Allan) Peters,
16Shirley (Jim) Pribble, and Grace McCullough; and many nieces
17and nephews; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Jeannette M. McCullough, and extend our sincere condolences to
21her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
22further
 
23    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24presented to the family of Jeannette McCullough as an
