SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Charles "Dick" Day of Crystal
4Lake, who passed away on April 9, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Day was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to
6Gordon F. Day Sr. and Mary Ann Day on January 16, 1950; he grew
7up in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin where he earned his Eagle Scout
8rank and swam for his high school swim team; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Day worked for the West Bend Company for
10over 30 years; he covered sales territories in North Carolina,
11Texas, Georgia, and finally, Illinois as Director of National
12Accounts; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Richard Day served on the board of the Delta
14Upsilon Alumni Association to support the organization that had
15given him so much during college; he was a devoted member of
16the Crystal Lake Country Club, promoting and carrying out many
17of its programs and efforts; he loved being on the golf course
18and slinging his clubs on his back walking alongside his
19buddies in Ireland; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Richard Day was one of a kind; he loved making his
21wife laugh, inspiring his daughter to try different adventures,

1and sharing stories with his grandchildren; he was a loyal
2friend, a great entertainer, and was happiest sitting in the
3stands at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin cheering
4on the University of Wisconsin Badgers; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Day was preceded in death by his parents;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Richard Day is survived by his loving wife of 42
8years, Aimee; his daughter, Beth (Tim) Lawrence; his
9grandchildren, Timmy and Charlotte Lawrence; his brother,
10Gordon F. Jr. (Constance) Day; his nieces, Elizabeth (Chris)
11Casey, and Lindsey Day; his great-nephews, Andrew and Gavin
12Casey; and many loving relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Richard Charles "Dick" Day, and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Richard Day as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
