| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Joan R. Black of Crystal Lake, who passed | 4 | | away on March 20, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Joan Black was born in Chicago to Olaf Mikal and | 6 | | Flora Lillian (Eliason) Rasmussen on September 22, 1945; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Joan Black was a retired teacher and librarian and | 8 | | had a deep passion for reading and inspiring children; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joan Black was a member of two long-standing book | 10 | | clubs and an active member of the Ridgefield - Crystal Lake | 11 | | Presbyterian Church community; she was a proud Norwegian and | 12 | | her passions included gardening, puzzles, games, and most of | 13 | | all, spending time with her family; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Joan Black was preceded in death by the love of | 15 | | her life, John H. "Jack" Black, Jr. and her parents, Olaf Mikal | 16 | | and Flora Lillian Rasmussen; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Joan Black is survived by her brother, Ralph | 18 | | (Dianne) Rasmussen; her sons, Gardner (Stacey) Hjerpe, and Adam | 19 | | (Heidi) Hjerpe; her nieces, Tiffany (John) Kees and Lara | 20 | | (Roger) Anderson; her stepdaughters, Jackie Torres, Pat |

Black, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further | 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Joan Black as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy.
