| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of T.L. Arends of Bartlett, who passed away | 4 | | on April 11, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was a career banker and very active in | 6 | | her community; she served on the Village Board since 1991, | 7 | | after spending a decade on the Bartlett Park District Board of | 8 | | Commissioners; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was the Chairman of the Unit Salvation | 10 | | Army from 1982 to 2009, President of the Bartlett Chamber of | 11 | | Commerce in 1984, President of the Bartlett Park District Board | 12 | | and the Bartlett Economic Development Commission in 1986; she | 13 | | served on the Bartlett Zoning Board of Appeals in 1987, and was | 14 | | the first female member of the Bartlett Lions Club from 1987 to | 15 | | the present; she was President of the Elgin High PTO in 1990, | 16 | | co-chairperson of the Bartlett Centennial and the Bartlett | 17 | | Living Legend in 1991, founder and first Chairperson of the | 18 | | Bartlett Fourth of July Committee from 1993 to 1994, and a | 19 | | member of the Bartlett Veterans Memorial Foundation Board from | 20 | | 2006 to 2009; she was a member of the Bartlett Rotary from 2007 | 21 | | to the present, serving as President in 2009; she was the | 22 | | Bartlett Village Trustee from 1991 to the present, and on the | 23 | | Foundation Board at Elgin Community College, and was part of |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was always there for the Village of | 3 | | Bartlett, helping whenever needed without taking credit or | 4 | | seeking the spotlight; she was honored with a plaque in the | 5 | | town center recognizing her achievements and dedication to | 6 | | service; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was preceded in death by her siblings, | 8 | | Stuart S.(Shelley) Stone, Rocky (Linda) Stone, and Kay Haas; | 9 | | and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, T.L. Arends is survived by her husband, Thomas; | 11 | | her children, Scott (Kristin) Sumner, and Kristina (Bill) | 12 | | Gabrenya; five grandchildren, Lucinda Katherine, Ellen | 13 | | Virginia, Graham Hubert, Grace Stone, and Lucas Liam; and her | 14 | | sisters, Carole (Gilbert) Baumann, Jan (Harold) Sanderson; | 15 | | therefore, be it
