SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joe Rittenhouse of Bement, who passed
4away on April 2, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was born in Decatur to Joe H. and
6Phyllis Metcalf Rittenhouse on December 20, 1940; he married
7Ronda Morris in Ivesdale on July 7, 1962; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was one of the youngest township
9highway commissioners in Illinois; he was elected in 1962 and
10served until 2017, when he was re-elected again two days after
11his passing; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was very active with Central
13State's Threshermen's Association; he was a board member for
14over 41 years; he served as Vice-President from 1984-1998, and
15then again in 2001; he had been President of the Board for the
16last 12 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was a member of the Bement United
18Methodist Church; he was a 47-year member of the Bement Masonic
19Lodge #365 AF and AM and was a charter member of the Piatt
20County Historical Society; he served as Piatt County Republican
21Precinct Committeeman and served on the Bement Fire Protection

1District for 58 years; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was preceded in death by his
3parents and his wife Ronda; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse is survived by his children,
5Melissa (Mark) Yoder and Morris Rittenhouse; his
6grandchildren, Tyler (Jacqueline) Yoder, Kyle (Cindy) Yoder
7and Tyce Rittenhouse; his great-grandson, Maxwell Yoder; his
8siblings, Stephen Rittenhouse and Carolyn (Melvin) Rittenhouse
9Jacobs; and his brother-in-law, Dave (Linda) Morris;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Joe Rittenhouse, and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Joe Rittenhouse as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
