SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael "Mike" Schuch of Crystal Lake,
4who passed away on December 9, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Schuch was born in Grabatz, Romania to
6Michael and Mary Schuch on December 6, 1928; he and his family
7became refugees during World War II and emigrated to the United
8States; he entered the United States Army in 1951 and was sent
9to Korea, where as a machinist he helped build runways; he
10served in the 840th Engineer Battalion and earned three medals:
11the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Star, and the
12United Nations Service Medal; he married Trudy Huff in Twin
13Lakes, Wisconsin on August 21, 1954 and they lived in Chicago
14for two years before moving to Crystal Lake, where they resided
15for 60 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Michael Schuch retired in 1991 from Shakeproof in
17Elgin after 27 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Michael Schuch loved to create and fix things; his
19biggest projects were building a two-car garage and a deck with
20a screen house, where he spent much of his time relaxing; for
21many years, he and his family vacationed in their camper in
22Wild Rose, Wisconsin; he loved playing horseshoes and bowling;

2    WHEREAS, Michael Schuch was preceded in death by his
3parents and his step-father, Peter Scholz; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Michael Schuch is survived by his wife of 62
5years, Trudy; his children, Diane (John) Kaczmarczyk, Mick
6(Brenda), Laure (Rick) Foerster, Ellen Radovich, Joe
7(Melanie), and Brian (Tracy); 15 grandchildren; eight
8great-grandchildren; and his sister, Emmi Koch; therefore, be
9it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Michael "Mike" Schuch, and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Michael Schuch as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
