SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael "Mike" Schuch of Crystal Lake, who passed away on December 9, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Michael Schuch was born in Grabatz, Romania to Michael and Mary Schuch on December 6, 1928; he and his family became refugees during World War II and emigrated to the United States; he entered the United States Army in 1951 and was sent to Korea, where as a machinist he helped build runways; he served in the 840th Engineer Battalion and earned three medals: the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Star, and the United Nations Service Medal; he married Trudy Huff in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin on August 21, 1954 and they lived in Chicago for two years before moving to Crystal Lake, where they resided for 60 years; and

WHEREAS, Michael Schuch retired in 1991 from Shakeproof in Elgin after 27 years; and

WHEREAS, Michael Schuch loved to create and fix things; his biggest projects were building a two-car garage and a deck with a screen house, where he spent much of his time relaxing; for many years, he and his family vacationed in their camper in Wild Rose, Wisconsin; he loved playing horseshoes and bowling; and

WHEREAS, Michael Schuch was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Peter Scholz; and

WHEREAS, Michael Schuch is survived by his wife of 62 years, Trudy; his children, Diane (John) Kaczmarczyk, Mick (Brenda), Laure (Rick) Foerster, Ellen Radovich, Joe (Melanie), and Brian (Tracy); 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Emmi Koch; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michael "Mike" Schuch, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Schuch as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
