SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William Daniel Hagerty Jr. of Highland
4Park, who passed away on February 19, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Hagerty Jr. was born in Chicago to William
6and Mary O'Connor Hagerty on November 2, 1929; he attended
7Regis College in Denver, Colorado and served honorably in the
8United States Army during the Korean War; and
 
9    WHEREAS, William Hagerty Jr. spent his entire career as a
10dedicated member of the Chicago Board of Trade, where he was
11trusted and respected by his colleagues; he was the President
12of Hagerty Grain Co., Inc., for over 45 years; he served as
13Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade in 1977, and as a
14Director of the Chicago Clearing Corporation for many years;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, William Hagerty Jr. was deeply religious,
17passionate, curious, and a rock-solid man of integrity with a
18great sense of humor; he was truly one of the good guys, was
19well loved, and will be missed; and
 
20    WHEREAS, William Hagerty Jr. was the beloved husband for 58
21years to Virginia "Ginny" (Long) Hagerty; the loving father of

1John (Anne Maddux), William III, Ann (Michael) Furby, and Susan
2Hagerty; the adored grandpa of Kelly, Joe, and Tommy Hagerty,
3and Matthew and Katie Furby; the cherished brother of Edward
4Hagerty and the late Lois Kearney; and the fond uncle of many
5nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8William Hagerty Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of William Hagerty Jr. as an expression
13of our deepest sympathy.
