SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James George Palek of Crystal Lake, who passed away on December 22, 2016 at the age of 87; and

WHEREAS, James Palek was born in Chicago to James and Vlasta (Cekan) Palek on February 21, 1929; he married Genevieve D. Ungerecht in Chicago on April 22, 1950; and

WHEREAS, James Palek retired from Black Dot after 31 years of service; he was a member of the Mens Garden Club, the Sokol Organization, and he was a Boy Scout troop leader for a number of years; and

WHEREAS, James Palek enjoyed gardening, gymnastics, fishing, bonsai trees, campfire cooking, barbecue, summers in Pike Lake, Wisconsin, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, James Palek was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his son-in-law, Ray McKinnon; and his brother, Robert Palek; and

WHEREAS, James Palek is survived by his children, Debi (Tom) Malone, Sue Ellen (Bill Bacon) McKinnon, Tom (Lynn) Palek, Steve (Kathy) Palek, Nadine (Steve) Csech, Paul Palek, and Jon (Linda) Palek; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of James George Palek, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Palek as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
