SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rodney D. Aavang of Greenwood, who passed away on January 3, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Rodney Aavang was born on the family farm to Almer and Lilly (Schroeder) Aavang on August 26, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Greenwood Township; he graduated from Woodstock High School in 1945 and married Libbie Barber at Greenwood Methodist Church on October 21, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Rodney Aavang was a longtime member of the McHenry County Farm Bureau, the McHenry County Fair Association, and the Woodstock Progressive Milk Association; and

WHEREAS, Rodney Aavang was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ethel Wilcox, and Bessie Worm; his brothers, Elmer, Clarence, and Victor Aavang; his granddaughter, Juniper Aavang; and his daughter-in-law, Cathy Aavang; and

WHEREAS, Rodney Aavang is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Libbie; his children, Dan Aavang, Sarah Aavang (Robert Lukes), Gary (Michele) Aavang, John Lohse, and JoAnn (David) Lohse; his grandchildren, Rachel Aavang (Vassil Antonov), Deanne Aavang, Jessie (Wei Nan) Lin, Brandon (Julie) Lohse, Josh (Anna) Lohse, Hannah Lohse (Chris McKee Jr.), Alyssa (Kevin) Paschke, and Morgan Lohse (Daniel Hayes); his step-grandchildren, Jamie Wasvick, Andrew Parker, Wesley Parker, Ross Parker, and Grant DeYoung; 11 great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rodney D. Aavang, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rodney Aavang as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
