SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert L. Vojas, who passed away on March
419, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Vojas was born October 5, 1933 in Staunton
6to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vojas on October 5, 1933; he graduated
7from St. Michael's Middle School, he graduated from Staunton
8High School, and he served in the United States Navy; he
9married Mary Seketa on August 24, 1957; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Vojas worked at the McDonnell Douglas
11Corporation from 1954 to 1995, where he was the Director of
12Quality Assurance; he worked on the P-40 Tomahawk, the F-4
13Phantom II, the PV-2 Harpoon, cruise missiles, and the Skylab
14space station; in 1988 and 1989, he received the Navy's Salty
15Dog Award; he also received the McDonnell Douglas President's
16Award in 1989 in recognition of his work as the product
17assurance manager on the Harpoon program; he began his second
18career working at Scott's Service Center; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Vojas was a member of St. Michael the
20Archangel Catholic Church of Staunton; he was a member of the
21Staunton American Legion Post #362 and the Staunton Lion's
22Club, where he previously served as President; he was a former

1member of the Staunton City Council where he served as the Ward
2One Alderman; he was a proud Democrat; he was first elected to
3the Macoupin County Board in 2002, and he was most recently
4Chairman of the Road and Bridges Committee; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Vojas is survived by his wife and best
6friend, Mary; his children, Steve (Tracie) Vojas, Mike Vojas,
7Roberta Vojas, and Renee (Matt) Galbraith; his granddaughters,
8Michelle Jones, Tiffany Vojas (Matt) Cramer, Christy (Rob)
9Coleman, Stephanie Vojas (Ryan Taylor), and Kimberley (Brian)
10Roller; and his great-grandsons, Dylan, Jackson, Coby, and
11Braden; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Vojas was preceded in death by his sister,
13Barbara Ann; and his niece, Lana Odorizzi; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Robert L. Vojas, and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Robert Vojas as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
