SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carolyn Rush of Chicago, who passed away
4on March 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carolyn Rush was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May
627, 1949; she moved to Chicago at an early age; she graduated
7from Hirsch High School and Roosevelt University in Chicago
8with high honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational
9Leadership; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Carolyn Rush worked as a community organizer,
11precinct captain, and political strategist in many campaigns;
12she was instrumental in the civil rights movement, working to
13end discrimination in housing and employment; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Carolyn Rush was preceded in death by one son; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Carolyn Rush is survived by her husband of 36
16years, U.S. Congressman Bobby Rush; six children; and 11
17grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Carolyn Rush, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,

1friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Carolyn Rush as an expression of our
4deepest sympathy.
