SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Karlen Cooney of Woodstock, who passed
4away on February 27, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Karlen Cooney was born in Woodstock to James M.
6and Olive (Shockey) Hecht on June 30, 1917; she married James
7H. Cooney on September 21, 1946; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Karlen Cooney took great pride in her children,
9grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she supported her
10family's activities and pursuits and the campaigns of her
11husband, who served as Woodstock Mayor and McHenry County
12Circuit Judge; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Karlen Cooney was preceded in death by her
14parents; her husband, James; and her brothers, Irwin and
15Raphael Hecht; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Karlen Cooney is survived by her children, Melissa
17Cooney, Kent Cooney, and Andrea (Robert) Cusick; her
18grandchildren, Brandy (Brian) Coakley, Jordan (Nick) Reget, J.
19Colman Cooney (Emily McGufficke), Alexe Cooney, Laura Cusick,
20and Kerry Cusick; her five great-grandchildren, Bailey
21Coakley, Megan Coakley, August Reget, Olive Reget, and Frances

1Cooney; her nephews, James P. and Dr. Robert Hecht; her
2brother-in-law, Thomas (Jane) Cooney; and her favorite former
3daughter-in-law, Deah Cooney; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Karlen Cooney, and extend our sincere condolences to her
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Karlen Cooney as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
