SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Susan Marie "Susie-Q" Klen of Joliet, who passed away on March 7, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Susan Klen was born in Joliet on February 29, 1964 and proudly celebrated her 13th birthday on February 29, 2016; she graduated from Joliet Township High School West Campus in 1982, the College of St. Francis in 1989, and Joliet Junior College in 2009; she also attended Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Susan Klen served on the Joliet Junior College Board of Trustees, the Joliet Township High School Foundation Board of Directors, and the Joliet Township High School Alumni Association Board of Directors; she was a member of the Zonta Club of Joliet, where she served as Finance Chair and Parliamentarian; she served on the Witches Night Out Committee since 2010; she was a supporter and promoter of the Will-Grundy Center for Independent Living; also served as a Will County Election Judge and Rialto Square Theater Volunteer; and

WHEREAS, Susan Klen was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John W. Leeson Sr., and her grandparents; and

WHEREAS, Susan Klen is survived by her husband, John W. Leeson Jr.; her mother, Barbara Meurer; her father, James (Phyllis) Klen; her sisters, Kathy Klen, and Laura (Tim) Chaplin; her mother-in-law, Nellie Leeson; her sisters-in-law, Victoria (George) Ellis, and Terri (John) Prestas; her niece, Alexandra Chaplin; her nephews, Andrew and Aaron Chaplin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Susan Marie "Susie-Q" Klen, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Susan Klen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
