SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald Haznedl, who passed away on
4February 16, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl was born in Berwyn to Frank and
6Mildred (Straka) Haznedl on October 1, 1935; he graduated from
7J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero; he obtained his
8bachelor's degree from Wheaton College, attended New York
9Theological Seminary, and received his Master of Divinity from
10McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago; later, he earned a
11master's degree in anthropology at Northern Illinois
12University; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl taught philosophy, anthropology,
14and related disciplines at McHenry County College (MCC), where
15he created a new course, Archaeology of the Ancient Middle
16East, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences with
17his students; he continued to share his experiences with a
18variety of groups young and old during and after his tenure at
19MCC, helping people understand the rich culture of the Middle
20East on a personal level; and
 
21    WHEREAS, In 1959, Ronald Haznedl participated in an
22archaeological excavation in Palestine, where he discovered

1the largest tomb in terms of number of objects; through the
2years, he participated in a number of archaeological and
3cultural experiences in the Middle East; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl served as pastor of the Second
5Presbyterian Church of Aurora for over a decade; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl was preceded in death by his
7parents; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl is survived by his wife of 40
9years, Alice; his brother, Allen; his sister, Lois (Arthur)
10Siml; his sons, Stephen (Margaret) and Craig (Velma Carol)
11Farr; and his grandchildren, Abigail and Ethan Farr; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Ronald Haznedl, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Ronald Haznedl as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
