SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Millard R. "Red" Rakestraw, formerly of
4McHenry, who passed away on February 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Millard Rakestraw was born in Mineral to Millard
6F. and Minnie Rakestraw on January 25, 1929; he married Ruth A.
7Lamer on February 10, 1951; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Millard Rakestraw worked initially as a farmer and
9then as a mechanic; farmers entering tractor pull competitions
10will remember him as the mechanic to hire to get the most out
11of their tractors; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Millard Rakestraw and his wife moved to Stanford,
13Kentucky in July of 2011; he was a member of St. William
14Catholic Church in Lancaster, Kentucky; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Millard Rakestraw was preceded in death by his
16parents; his brothers, Donald and Dale; his sisters, Katherine
17and Frances; and his son-in-law, Fred Schmidtgall; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Millard Rakestraw is survived by his wife of 66
19years, Ruth; his son, Michael Rakestraw; his daughters, Peggy
20(Paul) Waldoch, and Patricia Schmidtgall; his grandchildren,

1Michael (Kelsey), Paul and Luke Rakestraw, Melissa (Kyle)
2Snelten, Nicole Waldoch, Rebecca (Steve) Smith, and Lisa
3(Jerald) Donegan; his great-grandchildren, Kaleb, JJ, Fiona,
4Jeremiah, Katie Marie, and the much anticipated, Cora Isabella
5Smith, and Baby Rakestraw; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Millard R. "Red" Rakestraw, and extend our sincere condolences
9to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Millard Rakestraw as an expression
13of our deepest sympathy.
