SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth Self, formerly of Waukegan, who passed away on February 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was born and raised in Tellico Plains, Tennessee; he married Yvonne Murphy in 1964; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was a professional driver and retired from bus driving after a 30-year career; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was a local legend and master mechanic; he custom built his own Triumph motorcycles and collected 1969 Mustangs from all over the United States, restoring them to factory condition; he won numerous trophies at auto shows; he also enjoyed traveling, old movies, and history; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Self was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lester and Ersa Jean (Akins) Self, and his brother, William Self; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Self is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne; his son, Kenneth John Self; his daughters, Justine (Steve) Kevek, and Kathleen Wilson (Andrew Liston); his grandchildren, Kenneth (Kathryn) Klomp, John Ken Self, Clara Kevek, and Mary Kevek; his great-granddaughter, Kayla Rose Klomp; his brothers, Chuck Self, and Robert (Trish) Self; his sisters, Pat Carey, and Lois Preston; his favorite uncle, Bill (Margaret) Akins; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth Self, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenneth Self as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
