SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark Joseph Gallagher of Beach Park, who passed away on October 8, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Mark Gallagher was born in Waukegan to James E. and Mary Jean (Bure) Gallagher on January 26, 1956; he graduated from Carmel High School in Mundelein; and

WHEREAS, Mark Gallagher was a respected ironworker, honing his world renowned welding skills in the shipyards of Pascagoula, Mississippi in the 1970s before becoming a lifelong fixture in his family's business at North Chicago Iron Works in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Mark Gallagher volunteered at Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) and was a member of the North Chicago Lions Club; he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, tinkering with old cars and motorcycles, fishing, bowling, gardening, puzzles, playing Scrabble, cards, listening to jazz music, and murder mysteries; and

WHEREAS, Mark Gallagher was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Mark Gallagher is survived by his wife, Darlene (Salimitari); his former spouse, Julie (Robbins); his children, Steven (Cristi), Christopher, Sarah (Caleb), and Megan (Chris); his stepdaughters, Deatrice, Candice, and Sarah; his grandchildren, Cassidy, Taylor, Robbie, Olivia, Christopher, Cody, and Connor; and an assortment of nieces, nephews, siblings, and other extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark Joseph Gallagher and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Gallagher as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
