| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Carol Ann Trumpe of Edwards, who passed | 4 | | away on November 13, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Carol Trumpe was born in Sterling, Colorado to | 6 | | E.M. and Delorese (McCluskey) Eliason on March 28, 1935; she | 7 | | received a four-year, full-ride scholarship from the Boettcher | 8 | | Foundation to attend Colorado State University, formerly A & M, | 9 | | where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority; she | 10 | | achieved the highest grade point average and was granted a | 11 | | Bachelor of Science in Sociology, the first degree from the | 12 | | school under its new name of Colorado State University; she | 13 | | later earned a Master of Science in Sociology from Purdue | 14 | | University; she married Richard "Dick" Trumpe on June 10, 1956; | 15 | | and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Carol Trumpe served on the Peoria County Board for | 17 | | 27 years and retired in November 2016; during her time as an | 18 | | elected official, she had many accomplishments, including | 19 | | revising the Peoria County's Land Use Plan, which was finalized | 20 | | in 2009; for 12 years, she chaired the Land Use Committee and | 21 | | served as the vice chair for two years; she also served on | 22 | | other steering committees and projects, was devoted to her | 23 | | constituents, and was highly respected by both political |

| 1 | | parties; in July 2016, she was recognized as a "local legend" | 2 | | and was honored for her longstanding service on the Peoria | 3 | | County Board; she was named the Peoria County Farm Bureau's | 4 | | Person of the Year in 2016; in 2017, she was presented the | 5 | | Friend of Conservation Award given by the Peoria County Soil | 6 | | and Water Conservation District; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Carol Trumpe was a member of the Peoria County | 8 | | Farm Bureau, Grace Presbyterian Church, the Peoria Symphony | 9 | | Guild, the National Society of Arts and Letters, the Peoria | 10 | | County Republican Central Committee Board of Directors, and the | 11 | | Republican Women's Club, where she served as Chairman; she | 12 | | served on the Peoria County Extension Program Council in Home | 13 | | Economics, the Rural Peoria County Council on Aging Board of | 14 | | Directors, the Peoria Emergency Medical Services Task Force, | 15 | | and the former Domestic Violence Project Learning Board of | 16 | | Directors; she was a former member of the South Side Mission | 17 | | Board of Directors; she was also a national speaker for the | 18 | | Women's Christian Club and taught part-time at Illinois Central | 19 | | College and Bradley University; she was committed to her faith | 20 | | and stood up for her beliefs; until the time of her passing she | 21 | | led and was involved with a weekly neighborhood Bible study; | 22 | | she was a loving wife and mother and a friend to many; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Carol Trumpe is survived by her husband, Dick; her | 2 | | son, Rick; and Kim Brooks-Miller (Steve) Sink; therefore, be it
| 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 5 | | Carol Ann Trumpe and extend our sincere condolences to her | 6 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 7 | | further
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to the family of Carol Trumpe as an expression of our | 10 | | deepest sympathy.
