SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Ann Eckstein of Boulder, Colorado,
4formerly of Oak Park and Wheaton, on June 8, 2018 at the age of
581; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Ann Eckstein was born on April 12, 1937 in
7Chicago to Anna and Andrew Miller, the youngest and only
8daughter of their four children; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Ann Eckstein attended St. Mary's Catholic
10High School, where she made lifelong best friends who called
11themselves "Marybelles"; she received her bachelor's degree
12and master's degree in teaching and taught for over 25 years in
13Oak Park Elementary School District 97; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mary Ann Eckstein had a love for learning and
15creative teaching methods that are carried on by the teachers
16she mentored and the students that she inspired; she continued
17to teach memory courses for adults at Triton College after her
18retirement from District 97; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Ann Eckstein was a very active member in the
20St. Giles Family Mass Community, where she welcomed new
21members, edited "The Vineyard" newsletter and used her love of

1puzzles and games to help plan the yearly treasure hunt; she
2was known to be a loving and supportive friend to many; she had
3a sense of humor beyond compare and an abiding sense of care
4for those around her; she was a dedicated supporter of the Oak
5Park Education Foundation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Ann Eckstein learned to swim at the age of
767, so she could play in Lake Michigan with her grandchildren;
8she "never ceased to be amazed by the beauty of the orange
9sherbet sunset over Lake Michigan" and enjoyed her many years
10and the good times had in Union Pier; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Ann Eckstein was preceded in death by her
12husband, Tom, her parents, and her brothers, Larry, Ray, and
13Robert; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mary Ann Eckstein is survived by her children,
15Henry, Anne, and Liz, and her grandchildren, Jady and Amy
16Laura; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Mary Ann Eckstein and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
21further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Mary Ann Eckstein as an expression
3of our deepest sympathy.
