SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of former Harvard Mayor and community
4leader, Frank Godo, who passed away on January 23, 2017 at the
5age of 80; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Frank Godo was born in Universal, Indiana to
7Michael and Mary (Sandor) Godo on November 1, 1936; in 1952,
8along with his mother and his sister, Julie, he moved to
9Harvard where he graduated from high school; he was stationed
10in Germany from 1960 to 1963 as a member of the United States
11Army 181st Battalion; he married Ruth Ann Mulvenna at the First
12Presbyterian Church in Harvard on May 25, 1968; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Frank Godo was elected to the first of two
14consecutive terms as Alderman on the Harvard City Council in
151973, and was elected Mayor of Harvard in 1981; upon completing
16two successful terms presiding over the city council, he took
17on a venture in the McHenry County judicial system and later
18became the Secretary of State driver's license facility manager
19in Woodstock, a post from which he retired after more than 20
20cumulative years of service; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Frank Godo was a member of the Harvard Rescue
22Squad for 19 years and was active in the Harvard Boys League

1for 30 years; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Frank Godo was preceded in death by his parents;
3and six siblings, Barb, Julie, Mary, George, Johnny, and Mike;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Godo is survived by his wife, Ruth; his
6children, James (Deborah) Godo, and Melinda Marie Godo; two
7grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie and Catherine Daly Godo; one
8sister, Ann Roskovensky; and the family dog, Missy; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Frank Godo, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
13friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Frank Godo as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
