SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Steven M. Rick of Woodstock, who passed away on February 4, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Steven Rick was born in Palatine to Robert and Marilyn (Rojicek) Rick on February 19, 1977; he graduated from Palatine High School in 1995, where he was active in football, baseball, and basketball, and was named PHS Athlete of the Year; he attended the University of Iowa for two years and transferred to the University of Illinois, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education; he married Cynthia M. Traskaski at The Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry on July 15, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Steven Rick taught science for over 10 years at Prairie Ridge High School, where he also coached girls and boys soccer and basketball; he then worked as coordinator in the Administration Office for District 155; during his time with District 155, he earned his master's degree and Type 75 Illinois Administrative Certificate; in 2014, he became Assistant Principal at Woodstock North High School in Community Unit School District 200; and

WHEREAS, Steven Rick enjoyed nature, hiking, family trips, playing cards, fantasy football, dinosaurs, and cheering on the Chicago White Sox and the Seattle Seahawks; and

WHEREAS, Steven Rick is survived by his wife of 10 years, Cindy; his daughters, Evie and Harper; his father, Robert Rick; his mother, Marilyn Rick; his sister, Suzanne Warren; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phil and Evelyn Traskaski; his brother-in-law, Phil Jr. (Nicole) Traskaski; his sister-in-law, Julie Traskaski; six nieces; and one nephew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Steven M. Rick, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Steven Rick as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
