SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charliene T. Kloppenburg of Springfield, who passed away on August 23, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was born in Springfield to Charles and Amelia (Noll) Tucker on October 26, 1927; she graduated from Lanphier High School in 1945; she married Henry R. Kloppenburg on September 28, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was a member of many organizations, including the PEO Chapter CA, the Eastern Star, The Springfield Civic Garden Club, the Springfield Theater Guild, the Springfield Symphony Guild, as well as several bridge clubs; she was a lifetime member of St John's Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and served as the Bible school superintendent and Sunday School teacher for many years; and

WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was a lifelong learner and treasured music, theater, and the written word; she was known for her singing and the ability to recite classic poems from memory; she had a deep faith and an open heart; and

WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; and her brother, William Tucker; and

WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg is survived by her daughters, Christa (Jim) Fleming and Martha Kohlrus; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda, and Megan Fleming, Tara (Frank) Kulavic, and Trevor Kohlrus; her great-grandchildren, Frankie, Nolan, Jack, Cal, and Posie Kulavic; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charliene T. Kloppenburg and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charliene Kloppenburg as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
