SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leon F. Walsh of Marengo, who passed away on January 29, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Leon Walsh was born in Chicago to Leo and Josephine (Dolata) Wolski on June 12, 1931; he served in the United States Marines during the Korean War and married Audrey (Stephan) Walsh on August 7, 1954; and

WHEREAS, Leon Walsh spent his career in the printing business as a hand-set typesetter and proofreader; and

WHEREAS, Leon Walsh was a 3rd-4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a past Grand Knight of the Queen of Peace Council in Barrington, a charter member of the Sacred Heart Council in Marengo, and an active member of St. Monica's Parish in Carpentersville for 47 years; he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1612; he enjoyed traveling and camping with his family; and

WHEREAS, Leon Walsh was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Alice (John) Ross, and Irene (Edward) Sanders; his nephew, Robert Ross; his niece, Carole Cannon; and his grandson, Alex Walsh; and

WHEREAS, Leon Walsh is survived by his wife, Audrey; his daughter, Karen (Larry) Rokusek, Chris Walsh, Craig (Pam) Walsh, Kevin (Jenifer) Walsh, and Corey (Barbara) Walsh; his grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel Rokusek, Johnathan (Sarah), Jessica, Bryan (Samantha), Brandon (Kelsee), Andrew, David, Ashley, Austin, and Jared Walsh; his great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Emilio; and four generations of nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leon F. Walsh, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leon Walsh as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
