SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Douglas Martin "Doug" Cygan, who passed away on July 5, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Doug Cygan was born to Richard and Mary Cygan on May 23, 1963, and he grew up in Mundelein; and

WHEREAS, Doug Cygan was President at Jewel-Osco, where he first started as a parking lot cart clerk at the age of 17; he worked hard and was proud of the people and company he led; he was well-liked and respected; and

WHEREAS, Doug Cygan served on the boards of The Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and Western Michigan University, his alma mater; and

WHEREAS, Doug Cygan was loyal, generous, funny, and full of life; he had a gift for inspiring others; the highlight of his life was spending time with his family and close friends; and

WHEREAS, Doug Cygan is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Shonna; his children, Mitchell, Taylor, Alexa, Timothy, Mikyla, and Ryan; his brothers, Rich and Scott; and his mother, Mary; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Douglas Martin "Doug" Cygan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Doug Cygan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
