SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen Michael "Steve" Kelly of Park City, who passed away on April 23, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Steve Kelly was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Joseph and Theresa Kelly on June 26, 1948; he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War before leaving the USMC in 1970; and

WHEREAS, Steve Kelly joined the police department in Waukegan and served the city for 29 years before he retired in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Steve Kelly was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, The Emerald Society, and The Marine Corps League 801; and

WHEREAS, Steve Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kevin and Shawn; his son, Brendan; and his granddaughter, Alyssa; and

WHEREAS, Steve Kelly is survived by his wife, Arlene Johns; his children, Erin (Tom) Gaines, Shane (Amy) Kelly, Ryan (Julie) Kelly, and Kasey (John Alford) Kelly; his stepdaughter, Joylene (Jerro) Masanque; his grandchildren, Mathias, Mitchell, Nathaniel, Merrick, Jordan, Tatyana, Brigid, Gwen, Charlotte, Quinn, Bennett, Brennan, Janine, Juliane, and Miguel; his sisters, Colleen, Maureen, Mary, Loretta, Kathleen, and their spouses; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stephen Michael "Steve" Kelly and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Steve Kelly as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
