SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy A. Messer of McHenry, who passed away on April 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer was born to Alfred and Jennie Allen on March 4, 1932; she married Glen Messer in Pascagoula, Mississippi on March 7, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer served as a Deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church in McHenry; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 491, where she served as president; she also volunteered for the American Red Cross; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Charles and Olga; and her daughter-in-law, Marilyn; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer is survived by her husband of 65 years, Glen; her children, Douglas Messer, David Messer, and Nancy Piper; her grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Adam, Janean, Carol-Ann, Kathleen, Lauren, and Alissa; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Arlene and Robert; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dorothy A. Messer and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Messer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
