SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Kalb of Springfield, who passed away on November 14, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Bob Kalb was born in Springfield to Arthur and Clara (Reynolds) Kalb on December 31, 1929; he graduated from Auburn High School and attended The Art Institute of Chicago; he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and married Marjorie E."Margie" Caufield in Carlinville on January 21, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Following the war, Bob Kalb began working as a clerk in the Springfield Post Office; he became a rural mail carrier on Route #2 in Springfield in 1956; he retired in January of 1985; and

WHEREAS, Bob Kalb joined the staff in the Grand Secretaries office of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of AF & AM of the State of Illinois; in October 1989, he was elected to the office of Grand Secretary until his retirement in 2003; he was past Master and Secretary of St. Paul's Lodge No. 500, a member of The Scottish Rite, Valley of Springfield, Ansar Temple AANMS, and Springfield Lodge No. 4 AF & AM; and

WHEREAS, Bob Kalb and his wife moved to The Villages in Florida, where they enjoyed golf and other activities for 12 years before returning to Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Bob Kalb was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Richard Kalb; his brother, Russell Kalb; and his sister, Dorothea Dodson; and

WHEREAS, Bob Kalb is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Marjorie; his daughters, Connie Sebok, Karen (Kevin) Harris, Patti (Dennis) Farrar, and Karla (Stephen) Kuhns; his grandchildren, Michael (Alisha) Kalb, Nicholas Harris, Collin Harris, Zachary Harris, Ashleigh Farrar (Jeff) Lentz, Jason Farrar, and Logan, Rileigh, and Delaney Kuhns; his great-grandchildren, Destiny and Ethen Kalb, Trevor Kalb, and Theo and Sullivan Lentz; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Kalb, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Kalb as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
