SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Daniel C. Felix of Pistakee Highlands,
4who passed away on January 5, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Felix was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin to
6Charles and Dorothy (Owens) Felix on April 11, 1939; he married
7Nancy M. Bartnicki at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Chicago
8on January 16, 1965; he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve
9and was stationed at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, North
10Carolina; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Daniel Felix opened Felix Auto Sales on Western
12Avenue near Riverview Park; later, he worked as an
13over-the-road truck driver with B.A. Railton Co. (Sysco Foods)
14and spent his entire 32-year career there, retiring in 2001 at
15the age of 62; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Daniel Felix was President of the Pistakee
17Highlands Community Association, where he was instrumental in
18getting the roads paved throughout the village; he coordinated
19numerous picnics, the annual Parade on Wheels, and the winter
20snow sculpture event; he was a member of the Loyal Order of the
21Moose and never passed up the opportunity to attend a garage
22sale; and

1    WHEREAS, Daniel Felix enjoyed refinishing old furniture
2and attending the Kane County Flea Market to sell his antiques
3and other goods; he enjoyed going to gun shows and to car shows
4with his 1923 Ford Model T; he also enjoyed taking his
5grandsons, their friends, and other children to his second home -
6 the Volo Auto Museum; one of his favorite treasures was his
7player piano, which he played at parties, entertaining guests
8and encouraging sing-a-longs; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Daniel Felix's greatest joy in life was his two
10grandsons; he took pride in all of their accomplishments and
11loved spending time with them; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Daniel Felix was preceded in death by his parents,
13Charles and Dorothy; his brother, Robert (Linda) Felix; his
14sister, Sandra (Lawrence) Leeke; and his in-laws, Edward and
15Wanda Bartnicki; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Daniel Felix is survived by his wife of nearly 52
17years, Nancy; his son, Paul (Kristine); his daughter, Denise;
18his grandsons, Brody Patrick Felix, and Colin James Felix; his
19sister, Patricia Hefty; his in-laws, Claudia (James) Sesso,
20Doris Berry, and Edward (Kathy) Bartnicki; and many nieces and
21nephews; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Daniel C. Felix, and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Daniel Felix as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
