SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel C. Felix of Pistakee Highlands, who passed away on January 5, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Felix was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin to Charles and Dorothy (Owens) Felix on April 11, 1939; he married Nancy M. Bartnicki at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Chicago on January 16, 1965; he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve and was stationed at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Felix opened Felix Auto Sales on Western Avenue near Riverview Park; later, he worked as an over-the-road truck driver with B.A. Railton Co. (Sysco Foods) and spent his entire 32-year career there, retiring in 2001 at the age of 62; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Felix was President of the Pistakee Highlands Community Association, where he was instrumental in getting the roads paved throughout the village; he coordinated numerous picnics, the annual Parade on Wheels, and the winter snow sculpture event; he was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and never passed up the opportunity to attend a garage sale; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Felix enjoyed refinishing old furniture and attending the Kane County Flea Market to sell his antiques and other goods; he enjoyed going to gun shows and to car shows with his 1923 Ford Model T; he also enjoyed taking his grandsons, their friends, and other children to his second home - the Volo Auto Museum; one of his favorite treasures was his player piano, which he played at parties, entertaining guests and encouraging sing-a-longs; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Felix's greatest joy in life was his two grandsons; he took pride in all of their accomplishments and loved spending time with them; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Felix was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy; his brother, Robert (Linda) Felix; his sister, Sandra (Lawrence) Leeke; and his in-laws, Edward and Wanda Bartnicki; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Felix is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Nancy; his son, Paul (Kristine); his daughter, Denise; his grandsons, Brody Patrick Felix, and Colin James Felix; his sister, Patricia Hefty; his in-laws, Claudia (James) Sesso, Doris Berry, and Edward (Kathy) Bartnicki; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Daniel C. Felix, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Daniel Felix as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
