SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marva Ann Jones of Peoria, who passed away on October 19, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Marva Jones was born in Peoria to Edd Lee and Gloria C. (Carter) Jones on July 16, 1939; and

WHEREAS, Marva Jones was an accomplished musician who played in several area bands, including the Volcanoes, of which she was the last surviving member, and Marva and Soul Progressives; she was a singer, songwriter, and recording artist; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her musical talents, Marva Jones was an ordained minister and presided over several weddings; and

WHEREAS, Marva Jones was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Endrika Edmonds; and

WHEREAS, Marva Jones is survived by her daughters, Atasa (Jeffery) Summerville and Andreon (Joe) Long; her granddaughters, Jentura and Alana Summerville; and her many cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marva Ann Jones and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of marva Jones as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
